Child Safety Standards
Last updated: 22 June 2026Doorstep has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out our standards and the steps we take to prevent, detect, and respond to this content and conduct on our service. Doorstep is operated by Doorstep, Australia.
An adults-only service
Doorstep is a dating and community app for homeowners and is strictly limited to adults aged 18 and over. Users must confirm they are 18+ and provide a date of birth during sign-up. Accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 are removed. We do not knowingly allow minors to create or use an account.
What is prohibited
The following are strictly prohibited on Doorstep and result in immediate account removal and, where required, a report to the relevant authorities:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form
- The sexualisation of, or any sexual conduct involving, a minor
- Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to contact, lure, or exploit a minor
- Sharing, requesting, or facilitating access to CSAE content
- Any other conduct that endangers a child
These rules are part of our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and apply to every user without exception.
How we prevent and detect abuse
- Adults-only access — age confirmation and date of birth are required at sign-up, and the service is built and marketed for adults only.
- Automated safety review — messages are scanned by an automated system that flags high-severity content, including any indication of child sexual abuse or the involvement of a minor, for urgent human review.
- Messages are not end-to-end encrypted — so that we are able to detect, review, and act on this content and respond to lawful requests. Conversations remain encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Human review — flagged content and user reports are reviewed by our team, who can remove content, suspend or ban accounts, and escalate to authorities.
- Blocking and match controls — users can block any other user, and messaging is limited to mutually matched users.
How users can report
Anyone can report a child safety concern directly inside the app:
- Open a user's profile and tap Report, choosing a reason and optionally attaching screenshots.
- Report a specific message from within a conversation.
You can also report a concern by email at any time. Reports involving a child's safety are treated as urgent.
Report a child safety concern

Legal compliance and reporting to authorities
Doorstep complies with all relevant child safety laws. Where we identify CSAM or credible CSAE concerns, we preserve the relevant evidence, remove the content and account, and report to the appropriate regional and national authorities, which may include:
- The Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) and Australian law enforcement
- The eSafety Commissioner (Australia)
- The U.S. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via its CyberTipline, where applicable
