Frequently asked questions

How do I delete my account?

Open the app → Settings → Delete account (at the bottom). Your profile is hidden from everyone immediately. Your account stays recoverable for 90 days (longer if it was reported or banned) — sign back in within that window to restore it. After the window passes, your profile, photos, and messages are permanently removed.

What happens if I sign back up after deleting?

If you restore your account within the recovery window, we keep only the essentials and clear everything else so you start fresh. We keep your name, your age, your photos, and your account login. We clear your bio, your answered profile questions, your home and door details, your nationality, religion, kids preference, property type and relationship intent, and your previous matches and conversations (these are not restored). If the recovery window has already passed, nothing is restored — the account and all associated data are permanently deleted.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone go to Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions, select Doorstep, and tap Cancel. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Can I get a refund?

Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled any time. Annual subscriptions are non-refundable. As all payments are processed by Apple, billing disputes are handled through Apple Support.

I can't log in to my account

Tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen to reset via email. If you're still stuck, email support@doorstepcompany.com.

How do I report another user?

Open that person's profile → tap Report. You can add a reason and screenshots. We review every report and act where appropriate. You can also block any user so they can no longer appear or interact with you.

My messages aren't sending

Check your internet connection and try again. If the problem persists, close and reopen the app.

I'm not seeing any neighbours near me

Make sure your home suburb is set correctly (Settings → Change home suburb). Doorstep shows people in and around your suburb — if your area is still new, you may see a limited feed while the community grows.

How do I change my suburb?

Your home suburb can be set once, to keep suburb boards authentic. If you've moved or set it incorrectly, use Settings → Support → Report a problem and we'll update it for you.

Can other people see my location?

No. Doorstep never asks for or accesses your device's location — there's no GPS involved at all. When you sign up you type the name of your home suburb, and that's the only location detail we store. On the People Map, neighbours see you pinned near your suburb's centre, deliberately offset by around 1.5 km at random — never your street, address, or actual position.

Can I hide myself from the People Map?

Yes. Go to Settings → Privacy and turn off "Show me on the People Map". You'll disappear from the map, suburb mini-maps and the Neighbours-nearby strip. Visibility works both ways, so while you're hidden those surfaces pause for you too — your matches, chats and suburb board keep working as normal.
