Guide

A free business listing that's actually free.

No card, no contract, no paying to be seen above the other free listings. Here's what that means and what it doesn't.

"Free" usually means free to be invisible

Most directories will list you for nothing and then sell the position above you to whoever pays. The free listing exists to make the paid one look necessary. That's a legitimate business model — it just isn't the same thing as free advertising.

What free means here

A Doorstep listing is free while your suburb is being built, and you don't hand over a card to get one. The order businesses appear in is set by what neighbours rated them, not by who paid. A paid business can hold one clearly-marked sponsored slot at the top of its category — and forfeits it if its rating drops. Nothing you can buy improves your score.

What you actually get

A listing in the suburbs you choose, seen only by homeowners who live there. Reviews from those neighbours, one each, that you can always reply to. A verified tick if you give us your ABN. And nothing to log in to — we build it and you email us for changes. See it by state →

How it works

A listing in the suburbs you serve. That's the whole thing.

1

You pick the suburbs

Tell us where you work. You appear there and nowhere else.

2

Neighbours rate you

Only members who live in or near your suburbs can review you, one each. A rating can't be bought.

3

Nothing to manage

No account, no dashboard. We build the listing for you; want a change, email us.

Our rules

Four things we'll never do

Message your customers for you. Sell you a better rating. Pull a review because you don't like it. Pass your details on. These were written down before the first business joined — not after a bad one.

Questions

Free listings

Is the Doorstep listing really free?

Yes, while we're building your suburb — and there is no card to enter, so nothing can quietly start charging. When there's a real audience of homeowners in your area we'll tell you what a listing costs before anything changes.

What's the catch?

You're early. Suburbs fill one at a time, and a listing in a suburb with few members is worth less than one in a full suburb — which is exactly why it isn't charged for yet. Early listings collect the first reviews.

Do I need an ABN?

It's optional but recommended: a verified ABN earns the verified-business tick on your listing, the same way members earn a verified badge.
